For some reason specifically this time of the year (maybe due to Thanksgiving?) I feel a need to make some donations and support those in need of it. For quite a bit I’ve been feeling that most needed and adequate donations would be to animal sanctuaries, and luckily we have several of them here in Ontario!

As awesome as Florida is and as much as I love it, I have to admit it was really hard to find good vegan food in restaurants pretty much anywhere outside of Key West. And I’m not even mentioning healthy food, so I obviously got off all of my raw food habits and was trying to at least stick with vegan. So, as a result, 5 extra lbs, feeling tired and heavy, not fitting into jeans, all those happy results when one packs on weight, meh. So now I’m trying to teach my body again to love fresh veggies&fruits by having freshly squeezed juice or green smoothie in the morning, and cooking regular happy vegan food with salads, to keep myself from vegan junk at least and gradually go back on the track to more raw stuff. Great help now is that it’s Fall and farmers markets are full of veggie goodness. Couple pics from the previous time I went there – such awesome colours!

I got greedy at the farmers market last Sunday and bought a whole huge bushel of amazing tomatoes. My oh my do I love those! But alas, being too ripen they need to be consumed fast. So, here’s a great delicious solution to this “problem” – Spanish soup gazpacho! Been eating it almost every day for the past week, and can’t praise it enough.

Federal health officials are warning pet owners to be cautious about feeding their dogs jerky treats as they continue to investigate a treat-related illnesses:
LA is proposing banning GMOs – Los Angeles is considering banning the cultivation and sale of genetically modified organisms. If it does, the second-largest U.S. city would become the country’s largest GMO-free zone. More here…
And just three days ago, Mexico banned genetically engineered corn. Citing the risk of imminent harm to the environment, a Mexican judge ruled that, effective immediately, no genetically engineered corn can be planted in the country. More here…
Flying over Miami, I saw the craziest hugest clouds I’ve ever seen – they were multi-layered, of various shapes and types, multi-colored, making the city under them look minuscule, more than they usually do. And so they were when looking from the ground – monstrous castles that just show up out of nowhere, run over our heads, pour tons of tropical rain and disappear turning the sky awesomely purple. Loved it!!

Hey guys, hope everyone’s is doing great! Just got back to t.o. after couple weeks of driving around beautiful (and melting hot) Florida, exploring the Keys, snorkelling, hanging out with most wonderful birds in the world aka pelicans in bird sanctuaries, canoeing in mangroves and doing other such stuff. Good thing in this (low) season is that hotels are cheaper, although it was still pricey, some hotels more than the others, but still this trip so far had the most emptying effect on my wallet, so gotta admit the Keys are not cheap. But the trip is 1000% worth it! With all the amazing animals you’ll see, all the super fantastic beaches you’ll swim at, and all the rest of great stuff you’ll do, gotta admit the Keys are also one of the best places one can go to. More details in the next posts 🙂
