(Raw?) Vegan Food for Dogs?

Hey guys, researching raw food stuff and details again, I bumped into this article that suggests raw vegan foods are not only beneficial for humans, but for pets as well. And not only it’s good for their health and longevity, but also their behaviour and connection with the owners improves. I know personally our dachshunds LOVE raw fresh carrots/tomatoes/potatoes/oranges etc and they love to chew on grass outside in the summer, so they definitely need raw veggie stuff, and, as far as I know, even wolfs don’t consistently eat their prey and very often chew on different roots and grasses. And especially because dogs are so much evolved far away from their carnivorous ancestors, I tend to think there’s something to that idea. At least I believe that keeping the majority of their food raw vegan with maybe some cooked stuff would be beneficial. And if not raw, then maybe at least cooked vegan? What do you guys think, any comments?

Toronto Raw Vegan Festival

Last weekend it was the 3rd year for Toronto Raw Vegan Fest, and after missing the first 2 years I finally got there this time! It was a really cool event with lots of interesting people and tons of interesting info and free raw samples (yummers!). Most of the stands were of course larger businesses advertising themselves, but there were plenty of fresh start ups as well and it was just great to be among people with the like mindset. Apart from raw stands there were also couple animal rights organizations – toronto pig┬ásave and toronto veg association. I’ve learnt more from these guys about who started the campaign with subway posters showing a puppy and a piglet and asking “love one, but eat the other?”, for about couple months these posters were all over subway, I can’t even imagine how hard it was to convince the officials, so it was an amazing and probably also the most efficient campaign that had ever been done in toronto for animals. So really glad I’ve learnt about them, planning to regularly support this group from now on and join them for events.
One thing I’d probably like to have added in this event though is more free workshops/classes rather than $120/presentation stuff. But maybe it’ll evolve naturally in the future. Overall really awesome event, and it was great to see how many people were there. Now looking forward to veg fest in September!
