Dehydrated Carrot Burgers

Finally now I can experiment making the “burgers” using my dehydrator!

Dehydrated Carrot Burgers

This time ingredients were a bit different than in the previous attempt.

  • 2.5 cups carrot pulp (from juicing)
  • 6 tbsp flax meal
  • 2 cups sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 tbsp organic soya sauce
  • about a cup of parsley (cuz I love parsley! but you can use less)
  • 1 cup chopped celery stalks
  • 1/2 sweet red pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 yellow onion
  • 1 average tomato

Chop up sunflower seeds in a food processor, then do the same thing with onions, tomato and parsley. Add all ingredients to a large bowl with carrot pulp, mix very well. Form “burgers” with your hands and place on dehydrator sheets. I didn’t use any ‘proper’ teflex sheets, in fact I don’t use them at all because they have teflon and no matter how low dehydrating temperatures I use I still don’t think using them is a good idea. If your mix is too wet to just place them on dehydrator sheets, better just use a green brand of parchment paper. I dehydrated half of them for 6 hrs at 40 Celsius and the result was awesome! Another half I left dehydrating overnight and they worked out into chips, which was still okay but that wasn’t carrot “burgers” anymore. So it’s up to you what result you want to get, hence the time 🙂 I served with some mustard, hot sauce and veggies.

Alberta and BC trip (part 8) – Vancouver, Wells Gray NP, Jasper to Calgary

Vancouver welcomed us with sunny warm weather and plentiful sailboats.

I wanted to stay in Kitsilano, the awesome hip area that I discovered during my previous visit to BC, but as we found out, Vancouver accommodations get filled up completely in summer months, so the only available space was in the ‘suburban’ North Vancouver. Ah well, it wasn’t actually so bad, as the drive to Kitsilano from our North Van Best Western place would take us only about 20 minutes via Lion’s Gate Bridge and absolutely awesome Stanley Park.

David Wolfe – what a disappointment

I have just learned that David Wolfe (also applies to Matt Monarch and Daniel Vitalis), is actually selling deer antler extract, deer placenta and colostrum….that’s plain sick, especially for someone who claims to be vegan, and incorporation of such screamingly non-vegan and animal abusive products to distribute for vegan people who trust him is so wrong from all possible points of view. Unfortunately it really seems that as long as money is involved, there’s very often just no moral rules for people anymore…so sad.

In fact this info is somewhat a belated realization, as that has been known for quite a bit, but apparently things still haven’t changed and people are still fighting for that to be stopped.

Very good video response to Matt Monarch is below, I’d sign under every word of it.
